An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. "A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy.

"It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego."

He continued, "The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather,
"Which wolf will win?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

So, which wolf would like to feed and which one are you actually feeding?

Our capacity to feed the good wolf depends on a few things like for example our self awareness. The first step is becoming aware that these two wolves are living within us.

And, that we’re either feeding one, or the other.

The more balanced, healed and connected we are inside of ourselves the more likely we are to feed to good wolf.

And for us to be that balanced and connected depends a lot on our lifestyle, our environment and what we focus on.

This in turn determines if we’re making helpful choices in life that lead us to balance or if we’re making choice that move us further out of balance.

How do you know if you’re in balance or not? The more balanced you are the more you’ll notice that you’ve been feeding the good wolf by noticing it’s qualities well alive within you.

Is your bad wolf winning?

Realise that your mind is not going to change by itself. It will change by your constant attention to it.

Up-level your thoughts higher and higher. How can that look like? Thinking thoughts that are more and more aligned with the laws of the universe and thoughts that reflect the very essence of who you are.

Start to consciously feed the good wolf by consciously thinking giving thoughts, selfless thoughts, wanting the best for other people, accepting thoughts, thoughts of infinite possibility, what if thoughts.

Because, the law of attraction dictates that like attracts like. If you have healthy uplifting thoughts you will attract more healthy and uplifting thoughts.

You simple need to start.

Make it a game, how much more expansive can your thinking become? How much possibility can you bring into your thinking? How can you focus on things in such a way that makes your being feeling more joyful and expansive?

The more your thinking is aligned with what is real, with the truth of existence, the better you’ll feel. The more you’re aligned with who you really are the more effortless abundant thinking and feelings becomes.

This is why it is important you practice meditation. It helps you align with your true essence.

Coming back to like attracts like, it also works the other way round. It is a well known principle in Ayurveda that like attracts like. If you are out of balance you tend to be drawn to things that pull you further out of balance.

For example, let’s take someone who is overstimulated and with too much fire in their system. As a consequence this person may have become more critical than usual, easier to anger and irritate, more impatient than normal. Now, this person goes to a yoga studio and has the choices of two classes: A restorative yoga class, and a strong dynamic challenging class. Which one do you think she’ll go for?

More likely than not to the dynamic class, because like attracts like. Was that a wise choice to help the person become more balanced? Probably not. The restorative class might have been a better choice to calm the nervous system and cool the mind.

So, your discernment gets easily affected by being out of balance.

Your energy levels get affected by being out of balance. Negative thinking tends to rob us of energy.

And, transformation takes energy. To start feeding the good wolf if you haven’t for a while takes energy. So generate energy by going out into nature for a walk every day.

That will help you connect with yourself and make it easier to start thinking positive thoughts.

Eradicate any negative thoughts straight away. Don’t allow them to catch the breathe of life by focussing on them, by perpetuating them.

Immediately focus on positive and abundant thoughts.

Remember that what you focus on you get more of. Become aware of and direct your thinking so that you’re feeding the good wolf.
